Managing Director, Kath Roach, introduces the course
A Code of Conduct is a key mechanism in assisting council officials to act honestly, ethically, responsibly and with accountability. The Code of Conduct assists council officials in fulfilling their responsibility to serve the community and to effectively meet the requirements of the Local Government Act (NSW) 1993.
The Model Code of Conduct for Local Councils in NSW sets the minimum standards of conduct for council officials in NSW. It is prescribed by regulation to assist council officials in:
Understanding and complying with the standards of conduct that are expected of them.
Enabling them to fulfil their statutory duty to act honestly and exercise a reasonable degree of care and diligence.
Acting in a way that enhances public confidence in Local Government.
